On Sunday, March 2nd, a mutual aid request came into the high country to assist with the Melrose Wildland Fire located in Polk County, NC. Deep Gap joined other fire departments from Watauga County to fulfill these request. Agencies from Watauga have assisted with structure protection, hand-line projects, water supply and staffing local Polk County fire stations.

Currently, Deep Gap Fire Department has deployed an engine company with 2 personnel to assist.

Deep Gap has also responded to 2 wildland fires locally within the past 2 weeks.
