Squad 2304 is a 1996 International Walk-In Rescue truck and is designated as a Equipment/Special Service Company. This status means that Squad 2304 carries copious amounts of equipment ranging from SCBAs and standard firefighting equipment, to extrication tools, rope rescue equipment, small Haz-Mat equipment, cascade system, and medical supplies. It also serves as a walk-in command center for large incidents.
Due to DGFD covering two major highways, Squad 2304 is one of the department’s busiest apparatus. This truck responds to all rescue calls (MVC, search and rescue, etc.), structure fires, and Haz-Mat incidents within our district.
Did you know Deep Gap Fire Department was the first volunteer fire department in Watauga County to purchase extrication equipment, such as the Jaws of Life?
