
Deep Gap Fire responds to head-on collision on Hwy. 421
On March 28th at 8:30am, Deep Gap Volunteers, Watauga Medics and State Highway Patrol were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 421 just after Stony Fork Rd.
Shortly after the initial dispatch, the call was upgraded in severity and Champion Fire Department, Wilkes EMS, Watauga Rescue, and additional Watauga Medics ambulances were added to the call.
Deep Gap units arrived to find a 2 vehicle, near head on collision. All occupants were out of the vehicles. Deep Gap & Champion firefighters assisted Medics and Wilkes EMS with patient care and ensured both vehicles were stable and hazards mitigated.
EMS transported 3 patients to Watauga Medical Center.
We would like to give a big thanks to our friends at Champion Fire Department and Wilkes County EMS for their assistance. Both agencies plugged in quickly and seamlessly into the incident.
