On the night of Monday, November 21st, Deep Gap Fire Department assisted Watauga Medics with setting up a landing zone for Highlands Air Rescue. Medical helicopters are used to transport critical patients to higher level medical facilities (such as trauma, burns, etc) for the best patient care. DGFD is called multiple times a year to set up landing zones, the department has many pre-determinded locations and sites throughout our district to safely land these helicopters.
